The paper examines the effectiveness of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, focusing on implementation policies and operational efficiency. It highlights that while ERP systems can standardize business processes, achieving efficiency requires more than just implementation. In Japan, ERP adoption has increased since the 1990s, but success rates vary due to company-specific challenges. The authors analyze survey data (182 samples) to identify key success factors, including customization policies and operational strategies. The study finds that business-focused implementation and structured customization policies contribute positively to ERP effectiveness, while excessive customization can reduce benefits. The research aims to provide insights for successful ERP adoption in Japanese companies.
